Thank you friends, fans and family. We won the Bizbreak contest thanks to YOU!
We are very honored to announce that yesterday we won the BizBreak Limitless VC contest. Needless to say, we are very excited about it and of course we would like to thank all the friends and people who voted for us. We got over 1,600 votes out of 5,000! This is definitely a huge boost for PresskMojo and we can’t wait to get in touch with the impressive team of mentors behind BizBreak.
The creative Chatroulette strategy
In one of our tweets, we also said that we would reveal our strategy if we won the contest. First off, let me tell you that it was a hell of a race. It took a lot of hard work and patience to take the lead on the poll. Luckily, we found a pretty creative and efficient way of harvesting votes and, what’s more, in a very fun way.
As you may know, the votes were registered via Twtpoll which limited the votes to 1 vote daily per IP address. So, we thought to ourselves: “How can we get instant access to hundreds of different people each using a unique IP address?”. The first thing that comes to mind is, of course, Facebook or Twitter. Right, we did use our social network connections extensively, but you can’t keep harassing your friends and followers for days like that without losing some of them. Plus, after a while you a reach a limit as your friends can only vote once per day. So we had to find that little extra something that would make a difference.
And here it is, our secret weapon explained in motion:
Alternative effective strategy
Of course, a lot of these conversations didn’t lead all the way to a vote. There are a lot of twisted people hanging out on ChatRoulette, let me tell you. The “Bra technique” was also pretty time consuming so we rapidly switched to text chat via Omegle. And to make sure we would keep up with the other contestants, we actually had a full team of 5 people for several days- this significantly impacted our results. All in all, we estimate that with a good script and a little bit of learning, you can get as many votes as 4 out of 5 tries with a voting rate of 1 per 2 minutes.
Obviously, Facebook and Twitter still accounted for a huge chunk of the final results, but we don’t think we would have been able to win without our ChatRoulette and Omegle strategy.
For those interested in stats, here’s a breakdown of our vote earning estimates:
1- Twitter 10%
2- Facebook : 25%
3- emailing/private messages/family: 35%
4- ChatRoulette / Omegle: 30%
So now you know!

Hey guys congrats on the win. Love the strategy I think its really creative. I don’t think a lot of the contestants went as far to think of anything like this which I’m sure they are not happy about. But it gives me some good ideas to actaully promote things like this in future contests for everyone to come up with creative ways to hustle for the votes.
Great job and best of luck.
